Figure Eight to Appen Rebrand FAQ

Overview

As Figure Eight completely transitions to Appen, we can now provide you with the best in class technology platform for training data, over 20 years of data collection and annotation expertise and a global crowd of over 1 million skilled annotators! We are excited for all the added benefits this integration will bring to you.

As part of our ongoing integration, we are updating key web properties to the Appen domain. This update has already taken place and includes the below changes, along with logo updates.

1. Which URL subdomains will be updated?

The below URLs will have updated subdomains. New subdomains effective from April 16, 2020:

 Previous URL

New URL from April 16, 2020

 URL description

 make.figure-eight.com

 client.appen.com

The site where you design and launch your jobs.

 tasks.figure-eight.work

 account.appen.com

Where contributors login to view their stats and account information.

 contributors.figure-eight.work

 annotate.appen.com

Where contributors do annotation work on the Appen platform.

 render.figure-eight.io

 view.appen.io

The site where you can preview jobs before launching them.

Additionally, all other URLs which ended in figure-eight.com will be ending in appen.com moving forward.

  • For example, our Success Center’s ‘success.figure-eight.com’ is now ‘success.appen.com’.

Important Note: To help you with this change, we will be redirecting existing URLs automatically for the next six months (until October 16, 2020) for a smooth transition so there’s no action needed immediately.

2. Will I have to update my API integration?

Yes, if you are using the Figure Eight API, you will need to change your integration to the api.appen.com domain.

Important note: We will continue to support api.figure-eight.com and api.crowdflower.com for at least six months after the update, but we highly recommend updating your integration sooner rather than later

Please see our Developer documentation for more information.

3. Will I have to update my policies for securely hosted data that requires cross-domain access?

Yes, any data you would like to upload to job designs that have whitelisted domains should be updated to the new Appen domain. For those utilizing referrer headers in your bucket policies for data hosting, the domains listed will need to be updated to our new URLs. This should also be noted for any data that requires cross-domain access, such as if you are iFraming restricted websites into job designs.

Please see this Success Center article for more information.

4. Will I have to update my Single Sign On (SSO) integration?

Yes, if you are using the Figure Eight SSO, you will need to change your integration to the appen.com domain.

Important note: We will continue to support SSO integrations using the Figure Eight domain for six months after the update (until October 16, 2020), but we highly recommend updating your integration sooner rather than later.

Please see this Success Center article for more information.
